Kindermusik “ABC English and Me”

Learning English through music and movement

Now, more than ever, learning a foreign language prepares your child for future success in an increasingly global society.

Kindermusik International combined 30 years of experience in early childhood education with the latest research on learning a foreign language to create ABC English & Me, an English language program for beginners.

Did you know?

• Music stimulates language learning, builds phonological awareness, and enhances language skills.

• Children who learn through movement show a marked improvement in memory.

• Being multilingual improves school performance and increases overall problem-solving skills.

• Research suggests bilingual children are more creative than monolingual speakers and score higher on standardised tests

How a child learns each week in class:

  • Songs and rhymes develop phonemic awareness and early

  • reading skills

  • Tapping, clacking, and ringing rhythm instruments in time with

  • music improves hand-eye coordination.

  • Focused listening activities with music improves skills to follow

  • Instrument play with rhythm sticks and egg shakers strengthens

  • fine motor skills.

  • Developmentally-appropriate songs develop vocal chords and

  • expressive speech.

  • Activities emphasize storytelling, imaginative play, and turn taking.

Beginning with the very first “Hello” song, your child will love ABC English & Me.

Each weekly lesson uses songs, story time, activities, picture cards, whole-body movement, and puppets to present an English language learning objective and English vocabulary words.

From lesson to lesson, the activities build on each other, so your child moves from learning target vocabulary to actively using it in familiar settings, such as understanding and asking simple questions.

Plus, the music and movement activities will improve your child’s gross and fine motor abilities and develop your child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and musical skills!

With a new theme introduced each month, your child will learn English while exploring farms, transportation, the weather, familiar routines and rituals, and more. Lesson assessments help you track your child’s progress

ABC English & Me meets the

• USA early childhood requirements of the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER)

• Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework in the UK

• Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR) developed by the Council of Europe

• TESOL English Language Proficiency Standards for Pre-K

Jolly  Phonics

What is Jolly Phonics?

Jolly Phonics is a fun and child centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers, who can see their students achieve.

The letter sounds are split into seven groups as shown below.

Letter Sound Order

The sounds are taught in a specific order (not alphabetically). This enables children to begin building words as early as possible.

How does Jolly Phonics work?

Using a synthetic phonics approach, Jolly Phonics teaches children the five key skills for reading and writing. Complemented by Jolly Readers and Jolly Grammar, it provides a thorough foundation for teaching literacy over three years in school.

The five skills taught in Jolly Phonics

1.Learning the letter sounds

Children are taught the 42 main letter sounds. This includes alphabet sounds as well as digraphs such as sh, th, ai and ue.

2.Learning letter formation

Using different multi-sensory methods, children learn how to form and write the letters.

Children are taught how to blend the sounds together to read and write new words.

4.Identifying the sounds in words (Segmenting)

Listening for the sounds in words gives children the best start for improving spelling.

5.Tricky words

Tricky words have irregular spellings and children learn these separately.

Zaytsev's DiCe / Кубики Зайцева

Zaitsev Dice - learning to read in Russian from two years

Training is conducted on the basis of the analytic-synthetic method. Children play with cubes, which have Russian syllables on each side of a cube. Children play fun and challenging games in which children begin to read before the game gets boring!

The letters on the dice and corresponding tables on the wall are big enough to see from the 10-metre distance!

Cubes of different color (gold, iron, wood, white with green punctuation marks), size (large, small, double), weight and sound (filled with pieces of iron and pieces of wood, bells), The goal is to provide an involuntary, rapid, reliable memorization.

Rhythmic pronunciation and singing the syllables is a powerful tool to influence memory.

Additional benefits:

- early reading

-speech theraphy

-rapidly expanding vocabulary

-logical reasoning

-early writing

- ability to work independently and in group

Long-term practice of teachers using Zaytsev techniques, (for 30-60 minutes 2 times a week):

two-year olds start reading within 6-9 months,

four-year olds - through 16 lessons,

five-year olds - in 5-10 sessions,

two-year olds - after 4-6 sessions.

Adult foreigners who do not know any Russian letters -  in the first session of 30-40 minutes, then start making words spoken by a teacher.

Mini Arco

Mini Arco enhances learning by teaching the following mental skills:

  • concentration

  • visual perception

  • memory

  • self-correction and self-regulation

  • problem solving skills

As a result, children reach their full potential and build foundations for reading & writing

The ability to concentrate is one of the most important mental skill for children to succeed in school. With MiniArco exercises children improve their general concentration ability and develop problem solving strategies in an enjoyable way. As a result, they become efficient and effective learners.

visual perception
Visual perception provides the basic foundation for learning to read, to write and to do math. MiniArco workbooks cover a broad range of visual perception skills: visual coordination, differentiation, discrimination, observation in detail, identifying patterns, and basic mathematical skills.

Through working on these exercises, children improve accurate observation, understand interrelation, and enhance visual thinking skills.

Working memory is another super-important prerequisite for children’s attainment at math, reading and writing.  MiniArco teaches children to handle cognitive load, remembering and manipulating multiple items/data at the same time.

problem solving skills

Each exercise is a puzzle which children need to solve. By trying to figure out the rule or pattern, children develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Self-correction and self-regulation

The game is designed in such a way, that children are motivated to check if their answer to the puzzle was correct by comparing the geometrical pattern they get against the correct pattern, shown for each exercise

The LEGO Education Preschool Purpose
At the heart of LEGO Education Preschool is our belief in the LEGO brick as a simple, hands-on tool that is ideal for active, creative and collaborative learning. Brick by brick, children construct and discover the world, all while having heaps of fun.

With the LEGO Education Preschool resources, children are continually learning. This may be in a ‘free play’ situation where they can challenge their own creativity, or in a teacher-led activity with more explicit learning objectives. We call this ‘playful learning’.

The resources within the LEGO Education Preschool range are all designed to inspire the teacher and the children to create playful learning experiences and to stimulate children’s instincts to explore and learn together.

LEGO Education Preschool – so many ways to learn.

Where we play
In LEGO® Education Preschool we know that developing social skills and an ability to collaborate is crucial for children’s success in school and later on in life. Therefore, we strive to deliver playful learning experiences for a collaborative group setting.

Our Preschool resources take their starting point in five focused learning areas:

  •  Creative Exploration

  •  Social & Emotional Development

  •  Understanding the World

  •  Early Math & Science

  •  Early Language & Literacy

Created by educational professionals, the LEGO Education Preschool resources extend the learning inherent in the bricks to deliver unique developmental experiences that prepare children for school and later life. The resources are accompanied by teacher activities to allow for more structured or guided experiences while also being suitable for free play. LEGO Education Preschool resources are also designed to be used by several children at one time in a collaborative environment.

Why Preschool Matters
The developmental changes taking place in children during these crucial preschool years are more numerous and intense than at almost any other time of their lives.

A good preschool experience at this important point can have long-lasting effects. In particular, it will enhance a child’s:

• Social and Emotional Development
• Cognitive Development and Language Development
• School Readiness and Educational Outcomes.

In an ever-changing world we need to prepare our children to manage the unexpected and to solve challenges that have not been addressed before. We may not be able to predict what jobs will be available in the future, but progress in the three areas above will give them the best chance of success in life.
